How to make an Inventory Item out of stock
Marking an inventory item out of stock allows you to remove an item, indicates why it was removed and also maintains the history of the inventory item.
(Note: If the item you want to remove was created for testing or was created on accident than you might want to delete the item instead of marking it out of stock.)
- Locate the Inventory Item within Knowledge ERP
- If you have a barcode label for the inventory item and a barcode scanner, click on the search field in the header and simply scan the barcode with your barcode scanner, or
- If you have a barcode label for the inventory item and do not have a barcode scanner, click on the search field in the header and type the barcode value (displayed below the barcode) and then press the "return" key, or
- Locate the inventory item manually
- Navigate to the Inventory Item list page.
- Click on the "Inventory" section in the menu.
- Then click on the "Items" link.
- Click on the Filter button and filter the list to find the inventory item(s) that you want.
- Click on the item name to get to the details page.
- Navigate to the Inventory Item list page.
- Click on the "Edit" button in the top of the first information panel.
- Change the dropdown for "Stock Adjustment" to indicate why it's being marked out of stock. This information is useful for reporting purposes.
- "Used" indicates that the item was used up. Example could be paper towels or some other consumable.
- "Sale" indicates that the item was sold.
- "Discard" indicates that the item was discard, perhaps because it was damaged beyond repair.
- "Donation (out)" indicates that you're removing the item from inventory because it's being donated to a different person or organization.
- "Transfer (out)" indicates that the item is being moved to another part of your organization.
- Click on the orange "Out of Stock" button and confirm.
