How to connect a barcode scanner to your inventory management software
Setting up a barcode scanner with your Knowledge ERP is easy. Our system works with almost any barcode scanner.
- Choose which barcode scanner you'd like to use. Here is one recommendation:
- NADAMOO Wireless Barcode Scanner works as either a corded solution with USB or wireless using bluetooth. You will likely want one scanner per computer/device that will use Knowledge ERP and will scan barcodes.
- If you will be using the USB cable with your scanner, simply plug the USB cable into the scanner and your computer/device.
- If you will be using bluetooth to scan your inventory then first you'll need to pair the scanner with your computer/device.
- For the NADAMOO Wireless Barcode Scanner, use the manual that comes with it and follow steps 1 through 3 of the Quick Start Guide that starts on page 5
- If you're using a different barcode scanner than review the manual that comes with it on how to connect the scanner to the computer/device.
- Next you will want to verify that your scanner is working properly with your computer/device.
Open a text editor (Word, Excel, Notepad, TextEdit, etc.) and place your cursor inside it.
Then scan any UPC barcode on something near you. Sometimes when you first press the trigger it
wakes up the scanner so if it doesn't work on the first attempt then try a second time. If it works properly
you should see the value of the UPC barcode appear within the text editor. This means that
the scanner has been successfully connected to the computer/device, and you can use it with Knowledge ERP. If it's not working you can try:
- If you're using bluetooth, look at your bluetooth settings on your computer/device and make sure it shows that the barcode scanner is connected.
- If you're using the NADAMOO Wireless Barcode Scanner, it might be that your scanner isn't set in "Instant Upload Mode" yet. Scan the barcode that's on page 6 of the manual, or also on the small plastic card with barcodes that comes with the scanner.
